Testimonial Stephen Gould

Stephen Gould (Managing Director, Everards Brewery Ltd)

Video Testimonial Transcription

Hello. My name is Stephen Gould, Managing Director for Everards Brewery based in Leicestershire. I have been Managing Director now since 2005 and working with the team at the brewery, we are responsible for 170 pubs, the brewery itself, which produces cask conditioned beers and also we have commercial property.

I have been working with Chris since 2007 but I perhaps just wanted to share with you why I have been working with Chris in the first place. I personally could identify two potential dangers having become MD. The first one is you can start to believe your own publicity because of the position you have got to and secondly your personal development slows down. Both of which could be potential damaging, not just for me personally but more critically for the business generally.

So, I decided I needed to continually personally develop and started working with Chris. And what Chris brought to the party very early on was a real empathy with my needs because he listens particularly well but also with the needs of the business and the needs of the team working with me. Well that is all fine but what has happened in the last 3 years?

Well I'll just explain how we have engaged in the last 3 years before I talk about actual results. We have worked together covering 14 coaching sessions. We started off with 6 coaching sessions but they were such tremendous value for me personally and obviously for the business generally, that we decided to move that forward and have had 14 sessions together. But that is fine in terms of having formal sessions but what you get with Chris is a much more broader and deeper engagement. Because he invests in tele-seminars, his blog and is also continuously developing his web presence. And if one engages in all those different areas, it actually produces superb value as a whole and Chris invites you into what he does week in week out rather than just in inverted commas 14 sessions.

So what about results? Now if you are anything like me in a leadership position, one of the big challenges right now and in the future is getting more from less. And I think what Chris has brought to me personally and to Everards is to be efficient in my thinking, to ensure I prioritise with my team, that we evaluate very clearly what we are doing and as a result we continuously grow. Now in these difficult economic times, it would be very easy to look at an engagement with Chris as a cost to the business. I would encourage anybody to really look upon an engagement with Chris as an investment. In that you will achieve more from less and you will understand what that means for you personally and your business more broadly via that engagement.

So in conclusion, for anyone out there looking to achieve more for less or more from less, looking to increase their profitability and value of their business, then Chris is a man to work with. He will deliver huge added value to your business and he is certainly a man I would encourage anybody to have in their network. Thanks very much.
