On Tuesday I had had one of those off days where I wasn't
energetically feeling myself. I had been at a meeting until late
the night before with some angry local villagers over a split
village issue. And I had taken that energy away with me.
What we think about and how we feel, has a huge impact on our
effectiveness at work and home. It is therefore essential that we
get our energy up. There are lots of techniques that help,
exercising, deep breathing, thinking of very positive situations
and images. Also getting back quickly with your network of positive
people.
This was apparant for me when I met up with Steve Robinson
www.sitac.co.uk later that day to talk about a tool called Insights
profiling. The nature of this profile helps clarify amongst other
things why different characters clash. Therefore it was a topical
conversation. What I noticed was that when you get back with people
who are positively energetic and talk about inspiring matters, you
are soon back on your game again. I left Steve feeling re-energised
and he emailed me to tell me he had been too. So you are not taking
from someone else unless you are moaning and dragging them down to
your depths. Rather by focusing on positive conversation building
that energy up together.
Get your energy up! And also make sure you never sound like the
customer service person I spoke to yesterday ie a wet lettuce. That
helps no one, including your brand!
